Help Kids Develop Healthy Habits Now To Last A Lifetime
A parent’s top priority is making sure their kids are happy, healthy and set up for success. Giving kids the support and foundation they need to lead their best lives is important.
Here are some tips to help your children establish healthy habits.
Promote Healthy Food Choices for Better Eating Habits
Food preferences are developed as early as infancy so even babies need a variety of tastes in their foods.
Follow a “Rainbow Diet”!
Give your kids a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables to get the nutrients they need.
According to the USDA, children should get one to two cups of fruit and one to three cups of vegetables each day.
Most kids need at least 3 meals per day plus snacks. Those meals or snacks should include at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables.
Having a protein-filled breakfast is also important to help give them enough energy to tackle the day.
If you are having a hard time determining if your child is getting adequate nutrition, talk to your pediatrician and see if supplementation with L'il CriNers might help fill some of those gaps.
Establish Consistent Routines
Whether during the school year, summer break, or on a vacation, ensuring your child has a sense of routine helps provide stability and wellbeing.
Eating routines can help them get the nutrients they need.
Sleep routines help set their internal clock and get them used to going to bed and waking around the same time.
Exercise routines can help set kids up for healthy minds and bodies.
Get Active by Making Exercise Fun
Kids need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Showing kids that exercise is fun can help build healthy habits early.
Sports, playing outdoors, and just running around helps to get kids moving and relieves stress.
As a bonus, an active lifestyle can also help them sleep better.
Bring On The Sandman – Promote a Quality Sleep
Sleep greatly varies by age, but on average, a child needs at least 9-10 hours of restful sleep at night.
Keeping a consistent, routine bedtime helps them get the necessary rest they need to tackle a new day feeling refreshed.
Drink Up and Hydrate with Water
Kids need to stay hydrated and should consume at least six to eight cups of water each day -especially critical during summer months and sports activities. If they want flavor, try adding a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime to their water.
Vitamins and Supplements – To Take Or Not To Take
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, kids should be able to get the recommended daily allowances of all of the vitamins and minerals they need from their diet. But many kids don't eat "a normal, well-balanced diet."
If you have a picky eater or just aren’t sure your child is getting what they need from food, you may need to provide them with vitamins and supplements. Ask your pediatrician if they think your child could benefit from taking
L’il Critters vitamins and supplements. Below are some to consider.
